Why was my comment removed?

There are three main types of comment removals on Reddit when using CrowdReply:

1. Automod Removed

What is it?

  • The subreddit’s automod filter instantly removes your comment. This usually happens if your comment includes a link or a word that’s banned on that subreddit.

What to do?

  • Try reposting your comment without the link or rephrase it to avoid any restricted words. If you see the status “Automod Removed,” that’s what happened.

Note: You are not charged for these types of removals on CrowdReply.

2. Reddit Spam Filter Removal

What is it?

  • Even if your comment passes the subreddit’s filters, Reddit’s global spam filters or bots might remove it after a few hours or even days.

Why does it happen?

  • Sending too many upvotes to a new comment, especially on old threads, in a short period.
  • Comment content is AI generated or spammy.
  • Commenting with the same domain name more than 5 times in 24 hours.

Reddit’s system will flag this behavior as spam and start removing your comments with that domain.

  • There's no way to detect if a comment was removed by Reddit's filters. It is just what we've seen based on our testing.

What to do?

  • Space out your comments and avoid overusing the same link or domain.
  • Use a mix of brand mentions and links in your comments.
  • Manually write good quality comments.

3. Manual Moderator Removal

What is it?

  • A subreddit moderator manually removes your comment.

Why does it happen?

  • The comment seems AI-generated, poorly written, or spammy.
  • It’s reported by other users.
  • It doesn’t follow the subreddit rules or guidelines.
  • There's no way to detect if a comment was manually removed by a human moderator.

What to do?

  • Improve the quality of your comments and make sure they fit naturally into the discussion.
