How to use Single Search?
Single Search lets you do a quick, one-off search for any keyword without adding it to your tracked keywords list.
It's the fastest way to find relevant Reddit threads ranked on Google for a specific topic.
How Single Search works
Single Search uses the same method as Ranked thread discovery — it scrapesGoogle search results to find the top Reddit threads currently ranking for your keyword. This means the results you see are established, high-authority threads that are already receiving search traffic.
This is different from the New tab in your tracked keywords (which scrapes Reddit directly for fresh discussions). Single Search gives you a snapshot of what's already ranking on Google right now.
When to use Single Search
- Exploring a new keyword before committing it to your tracked list
- Quick research on a trending topic or competitor
- One-time lookups for specific phrases you don't need to monitor ongoing
- Checking if a topic is worth tracking — see what's already ranking before using a keyword slot
- Finding high-value engagement targets — quickly locate the top Reddit threads for any keyword
How to use it
- Go to Social Listening → Mentions
- In the keyword filter at the top, select Single Search
- Type any keyword or phrase into the search field
- Press search
CrowdReply will scrape Google for top-ranking Reddit threads matching your search term and display the results in the same mention card format as your tracked keywords.

Converting a Single Search to a tracked keyword
If your Single Search returns valuable results and you want to monitor this keyword ongoing:
- Look for the Track option after running a Single Search on the right side.
- Click it to add this keyword to your tracked keywords list
- The keyword will now be monitored continuously both Ranked threads (from Google) andNew threads (from Reddit) will appear in your Mentions feed automatically
This is a great workflow for keyword discovery: search first, evaluate the results, then decide if it's worth a keyword slot.
Tips for effective Single Searches
- Be specific — "best CRM for real estate agents" will return more relevant results than just "CRM"
- Try competitor names — Search for a competitor's brand name to find threads where people discuss them
- Test prompt variations — If you're thinking about adding a new AI Search prompt, run it as a Single Search first to see what Reddit threads are already ranking for that topic
- Use it for quick wins — Find high-traffic threads, engage on them immediately, and move on. No need to set up tracking for a one-off opportunity.
- Check before adding keywords — Run a Single Search before committing a keyword slot to make sure the keyword generates enough relevant, high-quality results
